Insurance

Just in case you are worrying, we are fully insured with Public Liability and Personal Injury/Accident Insurance with AXA Plc. For your peace of mind, up to date evidence of our Public Liability Insurance cover can be found by clicking here.
Equipment
In general, we use our own equipment and tools. However, there is a limit to the range of equipment we can maintain and transport. We recognise that larger scale jobs may require more heavy duty machinery. In these cases, we offer a tool hire service in conjunction with a local tool centre, the fee for which we would discuss in advance of any job.
Our Lawn Mowers • We have 2 petrol lawn mowers available; one smaller more manoeuvrable 100cc rotary mower for more intricate mowing and a larger 150cc rotary mower for tough jobs and longer grass. Both mowers collect clippings and cannot be used for grass mulching. Neither mower has a roller and so we sadly cannot offer the service of a striped lawn.
Our Work Schedule
We primarily operate our business on a rota for regular clients. Depending on our work load at the time, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly slots (either half or full day) can become available. Ad-hoc gardening jobs are considered on a case by case basis depending on our current work load.
Winter Gardening • We understand that some regular clients may not wish to continue with gardening work throughout the winter months. In these cases, we unfortunately cannot reserve/hold a regular slot until the beginning of the following season.
Payment Options
We have 2 payment options available to our regular clients: ‘pay as you go‘ or monthly invoicing. All payments are required through BACS transfer into our business account. We do not accept cash or cheque. One off/ad-hoc jobs must be paid on a ‘pay as you go’ basis.
Last Minute Cancellation Fees
At present, we have not felt the need to implement a last minute cancellation charge, but will keep this policy under review in the future. We understand that sometimes things can change at the last minute, but if possible we politely request that clients provide a minimum of 48 Hours notice if they wish to cancel our services.
Weather
The British weather can throw all sorts at gardeners and we just have to live with it. Here are our general policies regarding weather.
Lawn Mowing • We do not perform lawn mowing/strimming in the rain or on wet lawns as this can damage both your lawn and our equipment. We will always do our best to rearrange cancelled lawn mowing at a time convenient to our clients.
Heavy Rain • We are happy to perform garden maintenance in rain and have appropriate wet weather gear. Naturally though, we recognise that there are certain jobs which just cannot be performed properly in torrential rain and water logged ground; digging and weeding are the most common examples. We will therefore be as flexible as possible with our clients wishes.
Cold Weather • We are happy to work in cold weather. However, we recognise that tasks such as mulching and border work cannot be performed on frozen ground. In these cases we will rearrange work to a date that suits the client.
Heavy Snow • This is one of the few times when the weather can really stop our services. In these cases, we will do our best to rearrange any work to a new date that suits the client.
Extreme Heat • During summer heat waves (temperatures consistently above ~30C) we enact a continental/mediterranean style working policy. We start our working day much earlier, working until ~1-2pm, take a break to avoid the worst of the heat in the afternoon and then return to work when it is cooler in the evening, around ~6-7pm. By doing this, our clients will get the best out of our services when we can work most efficiently in the cooler temperatures.
Garden Waste Disposal
We do not dispose of any garden waste generated during our visit. This is the responsibility of the client. We are happy to clear or bag up any waste during the job.
Hedge Cutting
Due to ongoing physical health reasons, we no longer offer a hedge cutting service. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Tree Felling
Please be aware that our insurance does not cover the removal and felling of larger trees, only the pruning of small shrubs, fruit/ornamental trees and bushes. For larger scale pruning and felling jobs we recommend hiring in the services of a professional tree surgeon.
